Gifter Artisan: Julie Fearns-Pheasant
Julie is a figurative artist/illustrator and educator who started on her artistic journey at a very young age. She has a B.A. Fine Arts and Grad. Dip Art Education and in 2015 she completed a Masters in Cross Disciplinary Arts and Design.
Julie has won several international art awards, including 5 gold medals in the International Abilympics when she represented Australia over a span of 6 years.
She has held many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous joint and group exhibitions. In 2020 she was chosen to be the City of Armadale’s Feature Artist and in 2021 she was awarded the 2021 Festival Artist title by the Armadale Arts Festival Artist Panel. Julie is an active participant in the Armadale Arts Community and this year she designed and ran a series of community workshop for young people. Julie is also a participant in the Humans of Armadale project where she shares her story to show others with ‘life labels’, that labels are not necessarily negative but life essences.
Julie has been an arts educator for over twenty years in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education. She currently works with graduate teachers, teaching authentic art curriculum. She also assists JAK Films with storyboards, production design and concept drawings and is an expert in digital enhancement.
Julie is a regular artist at the Waterwheel Gallery in Bedfordale, where a range of her creative artworks are on display. The gallery is open to the public the last weekend of each month. Note: The Gallery is closed over the festive season and will re-open in February 2022.
